Creating these alternate versions of my resume using AI taught me not only how I can improve on my resume but how much wording, emphasis, and framing can change the way your paper looks for different industries. For my prompt I told chat GPT to make me a resume for mining engineering focusing on technical skills, engineering coursework, and software used in mine design, such as Deswik, and etc. programs I used. By shifting the focus using AI toward problem-solving, environmental awareness, and hands on site work, the resume became more aligned with engineering expectations. Now for the business analyst I do not know much so I gave chat GPT a simple prompt, to be exact I said, “I don’t know much but make some stuff up and make it look good.”, and it did exactly that.
Overall, this process helps me understand how to shape an AI prompt to get a specific outcome. Small instructions can lead to major differences in tone, professionalism, the format, and the main focus depending on the target, and in this case industry.
